Importing data from your previous software
For: owner and manager
Updated October 28, 2026
Bring data over from your previous software or a spreadsheet in Workshop settings, Import data. You need a CSV or XLSX file whose first row holds the column names.
The order
Import in this order, skipping what you don't need: Services, Mechanics, Customers, Vehicles, Future bookings. Each step finds what the earlier ones added, by email or name.
How to import
- Choose the kind of data. You can download a Template or use your own file.
- Choose the file and click Upload and match columns.
- For each field pick the column from the file. You can save the matching and reuse it next time.
- Click Check the file. You'll see how many rows are new, to update, skipped and with errors. Nothing is saved yet.
- Click Import. It runs in the background, so you can leave the page. At the end, Download report gives the result for every row.
Good to know
- Rows with errors are skipped. Fix them in the file and import it again: rows already added are skipped.
- With mechanics you can send email invitations straight away.
- With bookings you can tick Import past bookings as history. Customers won't get messages about them.
