Reminders

Reminders bring cars back: before a service, the vehicle inspection, the insurance end date, the tyre season and after put-off repairs.

Where they come from

  • Service: when a car is collected we ask about the next service. The date and mileage come from Workshop settings → Service reminders (12 months and 15,000 km by default). You can change them or untick Remind about the next service.
  • Inspection and Insurance: from the dates on the car.
  • Tyre change: 1 April and 15 October for cars with a set in the tyre hotel.
  • Declined work: 30 days after the car is collected, if the customer declined some estimate lines.

Each car has at most one open reminder of each kind. A new one replaces the old one.

Mileage

When a reminder has a mileage, we work out when the car will reach it from the average of its readings over the last two years. Whichever comes first counts: the date or the mileage. Without readings at least 30 days apart, only the date counts.

Sending

Every morning we send the reminders due within the set number of days (14 by default). They go by SMS, or by email without a phone, only to customers who agreed to reminders, outside quiet hours and within the SMS allowance. The message has the plate, what's due, the date and a link to your booking page with the service picked. Each reminder is sent once. Change the wording in Workshop settings → Messages.

The list

The Reminders menu shows reminders that are Due, Sent, Booked, Done and Skipped. When a message didn't go out, e.g. without consent, you see why and can call the customer. Booking the car after a reminder was sent marks it Booked, and collecting the car makes it Done. Done and Skip close a reminder by hand.
